Advent at Walker Chapel
Throughout Advent, Walker Chapel will focus on Mary, the mother of Jesus, also known as the Theotokos—the "God-bearer.” Through the story of Mary, we will journey through the traditional Advent themes of hope, love, joy, and peace, reflecting on her unique role in the coming of Christ and how her faithful response to God can inspire us in our own lives.
Each week, we will explore different aspects of Mary’s story, the Gospel of Luke, drawing from the insights of female theologians and writers to deepen our understanding of her role in God’s redemption plan. Together, we will see how Mary’s life illuminates the very heart of Advent—waiting for God’s promGod’sMessiah and witnessing the fulfillment of that promise in the birth of Jesus.
